Scenario: I'm punching in or I'm creating a punch and I notice a message that states "There are no projects to display" or "There are no clients to display." It looks like the image below. What's up with that?
Possibility #1: this situation presents itself when someone has created a task and chosen either the "linked to projects" or the "linked to clients" toggle switch but forgot to actually specify one or more projects or clients.
You can tell that the task has been set up this way because it states "Linked to 0 project(s):"
Possibility #2: this scenario can also occur if there was a project or client previously associated with the task, but then someone archived it. What does that mean? When a project or client is archived, they're still in the database, but they're no longer active for ordinary, daily use. So, they could still potentially appear as a tab in a task's client or project field, but they can't be used to punch in or punch out. [Secret note: we intend on modifying this so that someone could still punch-in with the archived project or client at some future point].
The remedy: In order to edit task settings, you must have the "Can manage tasks" permission set. Contact one of the members in your group that has this permission set if you don't have it so that they can add projects or clients to the task and remove any projects or clients that have been archived.
More information: for group members with the "Can manage tasks" permission set, you may wish to consult our article entitled Create Tasks for Use in Punches.
