Question: One XPunch administrator asked: "As a manager and administrator, I am removing the option for 'workers' to add and edit punches manually. However, I was wondering if an employee forgets to clock in, or needs to clock in for a PTO day, is there a way that I can add/edit hours for them? Or do I have to changes the permissions of a 'worker' and let the employee make the add/edit, then change the permissions back?"
Answer: Administrators can indeed edit their workers' hours—even when the worker's "Role" dictates that the worker can only perform live punches. At a minimum, someone must assign the following two "Permission sets" to the manager:
- Can view members; and
- Can manage punches
* Do remember that "Roles" and "Permission sets" are two different things. Both are accessible via the "Configuration" icon. Managers set these items for each member of the group.
Below is an example screenshot of a permission set called "Swing Manager" that was created and then assigned to several managers in a company. These managers can add, edit, and delete workers' hours.
When an administrator adds punches or when an admin removes a manual punch, no audit log tracks who made the change. This is a feature that is on our long-range roadmap.
