Scenario: there are occasions when group managers may want reset a connection between their group and a member's XPunch account. Some of these reasons are listed at the end of this article.
Clarification: rest assured, none of the member's data, such as their punches, will be lost or deleted.
Solution: there are a number of steps that you'll want to move through, as follows:
- In XPunch, go to Configuration > Members.
- Click on the connected member whose connection you would like to reset.
- Click on the overflow menu icon (the three vertical dots).
- For this step:
• If you see a Disconnect option, choose it, then confirm your choice and move on to step 5;
• If you see a Cancel invitation option, choose it, then confirm your choice and move on to step 5;
• If you see neither of these options, just move on to step 5. - Invite this same member to your group in the usual fashion by clicking on the member.
- Click on the overflow menu icon (the three vertical dots).
- Choose the Invite option and then complete the dialogue that follows.
- Now, your member can create a brand new XPunch account using whichever credentials they prefer (either a Google personal, Microsoft personal, or local XPunch sign in) and connect to your group. Let your member do this—do not try and do this on behalf of your member as it will only lead to confusion. After your member has connected, you will observe that all of their punches were retained and they can continue using XPunch as if nothing ever happened.
Why would someone want to have a member's account connection reset?
Here are some of the reasons why we think people might want to do this. If you have come up with another reason, please let us know (referring specifically to this article) and we'll add your use case so that other XPunch users will be helped:
- Members can use their personal Google account or their personal Microsoft account to sign in to XPunch: they won't have to remember individual usernames and passwords. However, if for some reason they no longer want to use their Google/Microsoft account, they will have to create a brand-new XPunch account and re-connect to their group(s).
- Some members may forget their login credentials to the point that they can't even use the Forgot my password feature because they don't even remember what email they used to log in. In a case such as this, group managers may simply wish to reset the connection and ask the member to create a new XPunch account, asking the member to remember what their credentials are this time around.
